Power Adapter Cord
If your mac computer needs the power adapter outlet fixed, how likely is it that the logic board is affected?
I accidentally snapped off the power adapter cord (needle part) in my ac outlet of my powerbook mac g4. I bought another power cord, used it for months with no problems. Recently, the cord wouldn’t send energy to the computer. I had to keep manipulating the cord for it to work. Now it won’t work at all.
I brought in the comp for repair. I was told that it is likely the ac outlet needed to be replaced and quoted a price. After a couple of days I got a call and was told that after they replaced the outlet, it still wouldn’t work (with the exception with a charged battery, the power adapter cord won’t work) and that the logic board needed to be replaced. Of course for an additional fee. Does this seem likely or does it seem like I am getting f*****?
I have replaced hundreds of those connectors on all kinds of products. It is normally a 2 minute solder job once the board is exposed.
I would get the computer back, and take it to someone else. There may have been physical damage the board in attempting a repair and another professional opinion can only be of benefit to you.
