Why do press and politicians insist on calling the United States AMERICA when America is the entire continent?
Monroe Doctrine aside, we do not speak for the citizens of the the many other countries in the Americas.
I was thinking ‘America’ sounds more patriotic, but actually ‘The United States’ sounds pretty damn patriotic, too, even more so. I hear a lot of Europeans refer to ‘The States’, works for me!
